Costume
Vitruvius wears a white robe.

Lord Business wears a big hat and walks on huge stilts. He wears mostly red.

Wyldstyle wears dark clothes with some purple and blue streaks in both her hair and clothes.

Emmet wears builders clothes.

Looks like the ‘Independence Day’ poster.

Connotation & Meaning
Vitruvius’ costume makes him appear very wise, angelic and a bit biblical. His beard, hair and staff is very similar Gandalf. At first glance you would assume he’s a wizard.

Connotation & Meaning
Lord Business is the villain and is a psychotic, angry character. The red in his suit reflects this. His huge stilts make him look imposing and his angry expression on the close-up poster reflects his ‘in your face’ attitude.

Connotation & Meaning
Wyldstyle’s clothing makes her look like an emo. It represents her similarities to Catwoman in Batman comics and films. She is a strong, smart individual, like Catwoman.

Connotation & Meaning
This reminds the audience that Emmet is a typical everyday person, not your typical hero.

Connotation & Meaning
Allows to display Emmet as the main character, and show DC heroes and other character as the helper. Shows also how big Lord Business is.

Why?
He appeals to the audience as he is a stereotypical working man who does not like fun or the children’s imagination and looks to take away all creativity.

Why?
Appeals to the whole of the family as the adults and the children will have played with Lego when they were children.

Comments

  1. This is excellent Benji - I'm so impressed!

    One thing to note -
With regards to langauge: The main poster has a strapline at the top, unlike the character posters. Why? Why does each poster have the logo of the lego movie? What is the effect of each poster being available in 3D - how does this reflect society today?

    Please respond below.

    Well done!

  2. 'Th Lego Movie' main poster streamline tells everyone what kind of film it is, because it says that people need saving, indicating it's an action-adventure movie. Each poster saying the movie will be available in 3D lets people know the movie will be up to date in terms of technology.
